Asian Adventures - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Image
I was really surprised arriving in Ho Chi Minh City. I hadn't enjoyed the madness of Hanoi and thought we were going back to the chaos of there, but although Ho Chi Minh has more people it seems like bizarrely they have their traffic slightly in order. I'm not saying there's not a million motorbikes coming towards you from all angles when you think about crossing the road but at least here when you press the button to cross, the traffic stop when the red light shows and you can actually cross the road without fear of a random motorbike crossing your path. The buzz of Ho Chi Minh felt good to be walking through.       Our hotel Cat Huy was down an small close past some local people's houses. I wasn't pleased at the location as I didn't like walking down the close in the dark especially as it was just local's houses because that meant there wouldn't be many people going about at nigh...

Asian Adventures - Dalat, Vietnam

Image
We had another treacherous bus journey travelling to Dalat from Nha Trang. The majority of it was on small, twisty roads in the hills. The driver was a maniac! He was driving far too fast and overtaking on blind corners! Thankfully, the journey was only four hours which was one of our shorter journeys. There really is no rules over here on the roads. You can do whatever you want. Health and safety doesn't seem to be a thing. Not like in the UK where there are health and safety procedures in place for everything! They are way more relaxed over here about everything. The only thing they have specific rules for is about religion and visiting their religious temples which in comparison is extremely strict.     First impressions of Dalat were that it was more run down than I was expecting. I didn't know anything about Dalat but I imagined it to be a quaint little town but it's actually a small city. There's still mas...

Asian Adventures - Nha Trang, Vietnam

I was glad that our bus to Nha Trang was the last night bus we had to endure. We didn't sleep at all on the journey and we weren't even sitting next to each other this time so couldn't speak to one another to pass the time. As well as this our bus arrived an hour and a half earlier than we were meant to, arriving at 5am rather than 6.30am. We had emailed our hotel to tell them we would be arriving early but they hadn't responded. The hotel advertised a 24 hour reception so we thought we would be able to just sit in reception until places opened for breakfast. However, when we arrived at Boutique Hotel Villa LM there was no 24 hour reception and only a watchman about who couldn't let us in! He was really sweet as he couldn't speak any English but he showed us to a door at the side of the building that had toilets inside we could use, which was nice of him.We had to sit and wait outside the hotel from 5am to 7am for someone to open...
