The Cowshed, Cowgate

Image
Taking advantage of all the free shows at The Fringe Festival I found myself being persuaded to attend one in a venue on the Cowgate whilst on my way with friends to a pub. The show itself was not great, the downside to some free shows, but it did mean I found out about a venue beside it that had turned itself into a barn. Inside the 'barn' were hay bales and tractor tyres to use as seating as well as wooden tables to rest your drinks on. There were different country bands playing on a stage through out the evening which were perfect to listen to as back ground music or there was an area in front of the stage for people to stand and watch the bands also. The Cowshed was such a good change from a regular bar or pub and it is somewhere I could see still being popular after the festival finishes. I am a massive fan of live music so I love anywhere you can go and see some, be it at a concert or just sitting in a bar. This is a great place to try for somewhere different to go

The Pommery Champagne Bar

Last  week myself and my two friends decided to try out The Pommery Champagne Cafe Bar in the Signet Library just off the Royal Mile. It’s just a pop up for the festival but there will be another restaurant to fill the space after August. My friend’s uncle is the chef there so we were fortunate enough to receive VIP cards to get discount on our meal and some free champagne courtesy of  him too. Although The Champagne Bar is quite expensive, the food there is absolutely gorgeous and definitely worth going to treat yourself! They have champagne cocktails, burgers and lobster to take your fancy so head along soon to enjoy it before the end of the festival.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival

If anyone is thinking of visiting Edinburgh, August in my opinion would be the best time. Apart from the fact August is in the summer months, which means Scotland is more likely to get some sunshine, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is on throughout the whole of August. There are hundreds of shows to go and see in venues all around Edinburgh from comedy shows to plays, there is something for everyone. Myself and my friend went to The Three Sisters or 'The Free Sisters' as it is known over the festival to see some free comedy shows. There are loads of free comedy shows going on in different venues throughout the city. The Free Sisters have created different venues in their grounds and buildings to showcase comedy shows in. They even have a yurt and an old bus in their courtyard that hosts comedy shows everyday. During The Edinburgh Festival at Bristo Square, George Square and The Pleasance there are outdoor bars where you can sit and have a drink while you are waiting for
