Lebowskis and Henry's Cellar Bar, Morrison Street
I thought I would share with you all a night out I had with my flatmates just before Christmas. We went out for a pub night to Lebowskis and ended our night down stairs from there at Henry's Cellar Bar. Both are on Morrison Street just off Lothian Road.
The bar had a very relaxed atmosphere and was a great place to spend a night with good friends. They had a specials menu on with a selection of cocktails to choose from that me and my friends took full advantage of, as shown in the picture above. We were there on a Thursday night and the bar was surprisingly quiet but it could have just been because it was a week night as I'm sure the weekends are much more busy. When we were there we just had drinks, however I have heard they do great burgers so will need to go again and try them out.
After our cocktails we moved on to wine. I was shocked when I went up to the bar to order a bottle and the price for the house wine was £16! I found this very expensive but this could be due to me being used to The Tron prices and their bottle of wine costing £7! Last year whenever I was out I did find myself going to The Tron a lot, partly because it was across the road from my old flat and as I said it was very cheap. I decided to start my blog to encourage myself to try different places in Edinburgh and stop just going out to the same places all the time.
After we had had a few drinks at Lebowskis we decided to check out Henry's Cellar Bar which is directly underneath Lebowskis. It happened to be free entry this night which was great for us. The bar is very small and only has a few tables in front of the bar. Beside the tables there's a small standing area for people to watch the bands from. Henry's Cellar Bar is a great place to catch live music and is a good venue in Edinburgh to find out about local up and coming bands. We even saw Radio Scotland's Vic Galloway there watching the band which made us feel extremely cool. The decor is very simple to make you feel like you're in a grungy underground club which I loved. I'm a big fan of watching live music even if I haven't heard of the performer before so I would definitely be up for going to Henry's Cellar Bar again.
And of course when we woke up the next morning we weren't feeling our best. All we wanted was something good to eat and our trusty irn bru to make us feel better. Me and my flatmates always go to Snax Cafe on Buccleuch Street to sort out our hangovers and now they've just started delivering which is great news to us as we don't even need to leave the flat to get our hangover fix!
I hope this makes you want to go and have a drink at Lebowskis then head downstairs to have a dance and watch some live music at Henry's Cellar Bar.
